Flint Hills Stockyards sold 1,159 head Tuesday, with a strong offering of yearling steers and active demand throughout the feeder cattle sale. The largest volume was concentrated in 8- and 9-weight steers, where several load lots and multiple-load consignments sold from the low $320s into the upper $330s. A standout string of 67 black and black-baldy steers averaging 822 pounds brought $342.50/cwt, while 64 black steers averaging 871 pounds sold for $338.50 and 116 black and red steers averaging 877 pounds brought $336.00. Heifer demand was also strong, highlighted by 19 black heifers averaging 695 pounds at $380.50, 9 black heifers averaging 720 pounds at $357.00, and 39 black and black-baldy heifers averaging 533 pounds at $416.00.
