At the July 21 sale, buyer demand at Flint Hills Stockyards remained solid on yearling cattle, led by two load lots of steers. Sixty-two black-baldy steers averaging 934 pounds sold for $334.50/cwt, while 60 mixed steers averaging 928 pounds brought $327.00/cwt. Demand also remained strong for quality lighter cattle, with a 635-pound steer selling for $416.00/cwt and a 545-pound steer bringing $430.00/cwt. Heifers averaging 678 pounds topped the market at $354.00/cwt. Slaughter cows sold from $120.00 to $224.00/cwt, weigh-up bulls brought $219.00 to $220.00/cwt. There are 700+ grass steers consigned for next week.
